Ever felt like your world was spiraling out of control?
A world where you can’t sleep, concentrate, do your job properly, and maybe even not even feel like eating?

These are common symptoms that can be caused by financial difficulties, and I think there are basically two causes of this.
•    You have experienced an unexpected loss of income.
•    You have over committed yourself with loans that you thought you could afford.

There is no doubt about it, these are difficult problems.
I’d like to show you a couple of ways to get out of difficulty, but before I get to that, it’s worthwhile having a look at how lenders look at the problems you are having and why they take a dim view.

Banks, or any lender for that matter, use credit analysts to look at every home loan application.  These credit analysts are trained to take an unbiased view in each and every case and when you think about it, all they know about you is what they can see before them in your loan application.  Their basic approach is to
look at the numbers you have presented there to see whether you can afford the loan in the first place and secondly to look at how you have conducted yourself in the past.

If you have shown them loan statements where there are late payments occurring on a regular basis they will be inclined to think that you are not a good credit risk.  They won’t care too much about your personal circumstances, they are simply looking at you as a credit risk.

So, my first tip is to say to you: don’t let it get to that stage in the first place. If you feel yourself getting into any difficulty it is important to contact your lender or lenders at the earliest opportunity and explain that you are having difficulty making repayments and would like to seek their help.  In most cases the lender is obliged under the Consumer Credit Code to be flexible enough to allow you to get yourself back on track.

My second tip is this: if your lender is not agreeing to assist you, seek urgent financial help from an independent mortgage planner.
